About BillingBench
BillingBench publishes independent revenue cycle benchmarks and tools for independent physician practices. The mission is to give independent practices access to the same quality of RCM performance data and compliance tooling that large health systems have — without the consulting engagement or the vendor upsell. Everything on BillingBench is built to be used directly by billing managers and practice administrators, not to generate sales leads for software companies.
Independence means no affiliate relationships. BillingBench has no financial relationships with any medical billing software vendor, clearinghouse, payer, or RCM outsourcing company. Benchmark data is sourced from primary institutional publications — MGMA, HFMA, CMS, AHA, AMA — with citations and methodology published. Software evaluations are based on published feature sets, public pricing, and user data, not vendor-provided materials. There is no advertising and no sponsored content.
The tools — Denial Risk Tool, Appeal Letter Builder, Denial Decoder, ERA Parser, Prompt Pay Interest Calculator — are designed to produce compliant, actionable outputs with no patient data leaving the practice's browser. The Appeal Letter Builder cites actual federal and state statutes, not generic templates. The prompt pay statute reference is primary-source verified. Where data is not verified to a primary source, BillingBench says so explicitly.
